ARGOS – Tools for ArcGIS is a program for locating and receiving information from transmitters like Platform Transmitter Terminals or PTTs by using a satellite.
This program provides easy controls and functionality, which eliminates the need to edit and insert Argos data in the GIS manually. The batch processing function also makes for more productivity when dealing with several Argos data files.
ARGOS – Tools for ArcGIS also has a filter which functions at different levels within the Argos dataset. The program supports several filters, such as a filter which checks for validity of the alternative location, a filter based on the Argos class (LC class), a filter based on the plausible ground speed of the PTT, and a filter based on the user-set threshold values for distance-speed and angle of travel of the PTT.
ARGOS – Tools for ArcGIS also imports file formats like Argos*. dia (diagnostic) format, Argos*. dia (diagnostic format via e-mail, telnet, or the newly-introduced Argos-web service), and delimited formats like files exported from Excel.
